Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard affirms that he is after "regular football" amid links with a permanent move to West Ham United.

Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard has hinted that he could seek a move away from the club if he does not receive assurances over his game time.

The England international could not get a look-in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the first half of the 2020-21 season, but he reignited his career during a stellar loan spell at West Ham United.

Lingard scored nine goals and set up five more in 16 Premier League games as the Hammers secured Europa League football, and amid links with a permanent move to the club, he has affirmed that he is prioritising consistent game time.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the 28-year-old said: "Regular football is the most important thing for me. After going on loan and getting a good run in the team, you started to see the real me, with the goals and the assists.

"I've never doubted my ability, I've always believed in myself. I spoke to the manager (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) in pre-season and said, 'I need game time'.

"He said, 'we can discuss it December time', and we spoke again and he agreed to let me go on loan. I had various conversations with him during my time at West Ham. He was very supportive and it was a great loan for me."

Despite his impressive form in the second half of the 2020-21 Premier League season, Lingard was ultimately not selected by Gareth Southgate for England's Euro 2020 squad.
