AC/DC heading for surefire number one album

AC/DC look destined for this week's number one album with new release Power Up, midweek data emphatically suggests.

Aussie rock group AC/DC have established a stonking lead in the race for this week's number one album, according to the Official Charts Company.

The band's first album in six years, Power Up, is outselling the rest of the top five combined with an impressive 47,000 chart sales based on the first 72 hours alone.

The record could even become 2020's fastest-selling album, a title that was only set last week by Kylie Minogue's DISCO, which is down to five in the midweeks.

McFly's comeback album Young Dumb Thrills is currently in second place, followed by Paloma Faith's fifth studio album Infinite Things at three.

Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli is another new entry this week, tracking at four with Believe, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Songs From The Kitchen Disco is at seven.
