Comic duo Tom Davis and Romesh Ranganathan will provide the voiceover on an all-new version of Takeshi's Castle for Prime Video.

Prime Video has announced the return of Takeshi's Castle with new commentary duo Tom Davis and Romesh Ranganathan.

The Japanese gameshow sees contestants taking on a ridiculous physical assault course, usually with the result of them being bounced around or knocked over in hilarious fashion.

Originally with an English voiceover provided by Craig Charles, the show was a huge hit in the UK in the '90s and '00s - and now the format is returning with new comic duo Davis and Ranganathan.

"Nothing is more magical than a reboot of a successful show from yesteryear, heavy though is the pressure in bringing back the wonder that is Takeshi's Castle," said Davis, known for appearing in shows such as Murder In Successville, King Gary and The Curse.

"We are honoured to be bringing back the maddest show of all time to a whole new generation; hopefully they can take away the life lessons we learnt from the original."

Romesh and Tom Take Takeshi's Castle streams on Prime Video from August 30.
