Sir Trevor McDonald will replace the late Sir Patrick Moore as the face of GamesMaster in E4's upcoming reboot.

Sir Trevor McDonald has been named as the new face of GamesMaster ahead of the show's return on E4 later this year.

The late Sir Patrick Moore took on the iconic role of the GamesMaster in the original series, which aired from 1992 and 1998, and saw him keep a watchful eye over the competitors as they battled it out over a variety of different computer games.

Broadcasting veteran McDonald, 82, said: "I am delighted to be taking on this iconic role for a new generation of viewers."

Gaming expert and comedian Robert Florence will be the show's main host, with esports presenter Frankie Ward and newcomer Ty Logan serving as co-hosts.

The three-part series will premiere on the E4 YouTube channel followed by a linear broadcast on E4 at a later date.
