High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Joshua Bassett reveals that he suffered routine sexual abuse as a teenager by "a much older man".

Joshua Bassett, star of Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, has revealed that he suffered sexual abuse as a teenager by "a much older man".

The 20-year-old actor and singer, who came out as being part of the LGBTQ+ community earlier this year, made the revelation during a profile interview with GQ.

"I experienced sexual abuse a lot in my childhood," he told the magazine. "I didn't remember that until last year, which is pretty insane. I buried it so far.

"And when I was a teen, a much older man routinely abused me, and I wasn't able to see it for what it was at the time."

Bassett's new three-song EP is out now.
