ITV orders a second series of crime drama Crime, starring Dougray Scott, for new streaming service ITVX.

ITV has ordered a second series of crime drama Crime as it gears up for the launch of new streaming service ITVX later this year.

The show, adapted from Irvine Welsh's best-seller, stars Dougray Scott as troubled detective Ray Lennox, who works at Edinburgh's Serious Crimes team.

The second series of Crime will premiere first on ITVX before airing on the linear ITV channel several months later.

"Crime was a brilliantly original series and a perfect fit for ITVX, where we want to showcase drama as distinctive and original as this police procedure from Irvine Welsh," said ITV drama head Polly Hill.

"The next chapter in Lennox's story is just as bold and we look forward to introducing a new audience to Crime when it comes onto ITVX next year."

Filming on the new six-episode series will begin in Edinburgh this summer.
