ITV has confirmed that sitcom Kate & Koji will not be returning for a third series.
The show stars veteran actress Brenda Blethyn as an old-fashioned owner of a cafe on the coast and was a surprise hit during the first coronavirus lockdown, peaking with over 6 million viewers.
As a result ITV handed the show a second series, but COVID production delays meant that it took a further two years to air - and ratings plummeted around three-fold.
Confirming the show's axe, a spokesperson told The Mirror: "We've loved having Kate & Koji on the channel. We would like to thank all of the cast and crew for their hard work."
ITV's upcoming comedy slate includes Changing Ends, an autobiographical comedy starring Alan Carr, as well as Family Pile, about four sisters selling their family home after the death of their parents.
