Acclaimed chef Russell Norman has died at the age of 57 following a cardiac arrest.
Known as the "new King of Soho dining", Norman made a name for himself in central London with his chain of Polpo restaurants and spinoffs Spuntino and Polpetto.
Norman was also known to TV audiences for his appearances on the BBC's Saturday Kitchen as well as his documentary series The Restaurant Man.
Business partner Richard Beatty said in a statement: "It is with the greatest sadness I announce the loss of my best friend Russell Norman.
"After a short battle in hospital, he died surrounded by family and friends."
He added: "I ask that you respect the privacy of his family, friends and colleagues at this time."
Norman is survived by wife Jules and three children.
