The much-anticipated Friends reunion is seen by almost 1.7 million on its first day of release in the UK.

The much-anticipated reunion episode of Friends was watched by around 1.7 million viewers in the UK on its first day of release yesterday.

The two-hour special saw the cast of the hit comedy - Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox - reunite on the show's set for the first time since the last episode was filmed in 2004.

Sky released the episode on demand at 8am - the same time it was released on HBO Max in the US - with a linear screening on Sky One from 8pm.

The Sky One broadcast pulled in 691,000 (4.6%), according to early figures, while a further 982,000 watched the programme on demand at some point throughout the day.

The figures are expected to rise further over the Bank Holiday weekend as more viewers stream the programme on demand.
