ITV reportedly films a one-off special of The Masked Singer to air on Christmas Day.

ITV has reportedly filmed a special one-off episode of The Masked Singer to air on Christmas Day.

The popular reality show returns for a new series over the festive period and this year will be preceded by a Christmas special that will form a key part of ITV's schedule on the big day.

The Sun reports that the special was filmed last weekend, with Joel Dommett hosting as usual, although the celebrity judging panel has yet to be revealed.

"If you think the regular Masked Singer is high octane then this takes proceedings to a whole new level," a source told the newspaper.

"The characters were all brilliantly Christmassy and the party atmosphere was off the scale.

"Bosses want this to be a full scale celebration of all the fun, frivolity and laughs of Christmas as the family gather around the TV to join in."

The full new series has already been filmed, with the likes of Olly Murs and Jennifer Saunders appearing as guest judges.
