Strictly Come Dancing drops the group routine from this week's results show at the last minute following the tragic news from the Midlands.

The group dance on last night's Strictly Come Dancing results show was dropped at the last minute following the tragic news coming out of the Midlands.

Three children - aged just eight, 10 and 11 - died after falling through the ice covering a lake in Solihull on Sunday - and a six-year-old child remains critically ill in hospital.

Strictly's results show typically begins with a group dance routine - pre-recorded in advance - and this week's episode was due to feature a performance involving judge Craig Revel Horwood playing the Snow Queen.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed: "In light of tragic news events, we took the decision not to broadcast the group dance on this week's results show."

Strictly concludes this weekend with a feature-length finale on Saturday at 7.05pm.
