Strictly Come Dancing final 'to feature five couples'

The final episode of this year's Strictly Come Dancing will reportedly feature five couples instead of three.

Five couples will still be left in the competition when Strictly Come Dancing airs its finale next month, according to the Radio Times.

The show's run was cut from 13 weeks to nine this year due to coronavirus and as a result it had been expected that two weeks would feature double eliminations in order to whittle the couples down to the usual three for the final.

The BBC has reportedly now decided against having double eliminations, however, and will instead have five couples left at the end fighting for the glitterball trophy.

Young singer HRVY and EastEnders actress Maisie Smith are among the favourites to win after the first two weeks of performances, although the likes of Bill Bailey, Ranvir Singh and Nicola Adams have also impressed the judges.

The final episode is currently scheduled to take place live on Saturday, December 19.
