EastEnders star Maisie Smith, Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing confirmed for Strictly

Maisie Smith and Jamie Laing are the latest two names confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing.

EastEnders actress Maisie Smith and Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing have been confirmed as the ninth and 10th celebrities competing on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

The lineup for the new series of the BBC ballroom contest is now almost complete, with the likes of Caroline Quentin, JJ Chalmers, Nicola Adams and Bill Bailey already announced.

Laing, 31, was part of last year's lineup but was forced to withdraw due to injury, with his place going to eventual winner Kelvin Fletcher.

"Here we go again, hopefully this time I can last long enough so my mum can see me dance," he said. "The reason I'm doing it, is to make my mum proud but all I did last year was make her even more disappointed.

"Let's change that this year, can't wait!"

Meanwhile Smith, who has played Tiffany Butcher on EastEnders since 2008, is technically a previous Strictly winner, having triumphed in a 2019 special in aid of Children in Need.

"Get me in those sequins," the 19-year-old said. "I can't wait to dive into the Strictly fancy dress box this winter! This is a dream come true."

The new series begins on BBC One in late October.
