Myles Stephenson has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The 31-year-old shot to fame in 2017 as a member of the group Rak-Su, which won The X Factor, and has since appeared on shows including Celebrity MasterChef and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Taking to Instagram earlier today, he shared a picture of him in hospital hooked up to heart monitoring devices alongside some sad emojis, prompting concern from fans.
Later he returned to explain his condition, saying: "I am okay. I have a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which basically means in a nutshell that my heart walls are too thick and it can cause problems pumping blood around my body.
"So I have yearly check-ups. This is all very new to me as well so I am still working out what I need to do and how I have to carry myself now with regards to my heart and how much exercise I can do and stuff like that."
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is estimated to affect around 1 in 500 people, although many of those are unaware that they are affected and most sufferers live a normal life.
