R Kelly is given a 30-year jail sentence for sexual abuse and exploitation.

R Kelly has been handed a 30-year jail sentence after being found guilty of sexual abuse and exploitation.

The 55-year-old rapper was convicted of sex trafficking and related crimes last September and was back in court today for his sentencing hearing.

The court heard impact statements from seven women affected by his actions, with one telling him: "With every addition of a new victim you grew in wickedness, cockiness, diminishing any form of humanity or self-awareness, which soon became the breeding ground for your God-like complex."

US District Judge Ann Donnelly then sentenced him to 30 years behind bars - triple the amount of time that his lawyers had been arguing for.

Kelly has already been in jail for the last three years and could yet get even more prison time as he faces child pornography charges at a trial in Chicago in August.
