Prince William speaks publicly for the first time following his brother Prince Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Prince William has spoken out for the first time following the broadcast of his brother Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The controversial interview - broadcast earlier this week - saw Harry and wife Meghan Markle make a number of damaging allegations, including an assertion that a senior member of the Royal Family had expressed "concerns" to Harry about "how dark" his child's skin might be.

The Queen has since moved to calm the situation, issuing a statement calling the claims "concerning" and adding that they would be "addressed by the family privately".

William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, were attending a school in East London on Thursday morning when they were asked by a member of the press if he had been in touch with his brother.

"No, I haven't spoken to him yet but I will do," he replied, before being asked: "Is the Royal Family a racist family, sir?"

William responded: "We're very much not a racist family."

A peak of more than 12 million viewers tuned in to watch the interview when it was broadcast in the UK on ITV on Monday night.
