Meghan Markle claims that Buckingham Palace had "several conversations" where concerns were expressed over "how dark" her son Archie's skin would be.

Meghan Markle has claimed that Buckingham Palace had concerns about "how dark" her son Archie's skin might be before he was born.

In a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle revealed that the decision for Archie to be a private citizen and not a prince was not made by her and Prince Harry but by the Palace instead.

The Duchess of Sussex went on to make even more concerning allegations that there had been "several conversations" while she was pregnant about Archie's skin colour and "what that would mean and look like".

"They were saying they didn't want him to be a prince or princess, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn't going to receive security," she said.

"This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy. The argument was if he's not going to be a prince then he doesn't get protection. We're not saying don't make him a prince... we haven't created this monster machine around us, you've allowed that to happen, so our son needs to be safe."

She continued: "In those months when I was pregnant, we had in tandem the conversation of he wasn't going to be given security, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he is born. There were several conversations about it. What that would mean and look like."

The interview airs on ITV in the UK at 9pm tonight.
