Max Clifford 'boasts of being "ringmaster" for sex in new documentary'

A new Channel 4 documentary alleges that the late PR guru Max Clifford boasted of being the "ringmaster" at sex parties featuring young women.

Newly-uncovered audio tapes of the late PR guru Max Clifford supposedly reveal that he boasted of being "the ringmaster" at sex parties involving young women.

For decades Clifford was arguably one of the most influential figures in the British media, representing high-profile clients and helping to keep numerous scandals out of the public domain.

In 2014 he was sentenced to eight years in prison as part of Operation Yewtree after several young women came forward alleging that he had sexually assaulted them - and he died behind bars in December 2017 following a heart attack.

The new Channel 4 documentary Max Clifford: The Fall of a Tabloid King features previously-unheard tapes of Clifford talking about sex parties he put on for friends.

"It was my party, my circus, so I was the ringmaster," he says in one of the recordings. "We were all in this toy shop and we could play with every toy. I controlled it."

The programme also reveals that Clifford invented a character called 'Terry Denton', who would call women wanting to meet Clifford for job opportunities and advise them to offer oral sex when they met him for the first time.

Max Clifford: The Fall of a Tabloid King airs Monday night at 9pm on Channel 4.
