Demi Lovato has come out as non-binary and will use gender-neutral pronouns they/them from now on.

The 28-year-old singer announced the news in a lengthy Instagram post, explaining that they had come to the realisation "after a lot of healing and self-reflective work".

Lovato, who has previously identified as pansexual and "fluid", joins friend and collaborator Sam Smith in becoming a high-profile musician to come out as non-binary.

The Camp Rock star - known for songs including 'Skyscraper' and 'Sorry Not Sorry' - recently starred in a candid YouTube documentary exploring their past issues with addiction and mental health problems.
