Britney Spears's husband Sam Asghari files for divorce just 14 months after they got married.

Britney Spears's husband Sam Asghari has filed for divorce just 14 months after they tied the knot.

The pop superstar, 41, begin dating Asghari - an Iranian model and actor - in late 2016 after meeting while filming one of her music videos.

At the time, Spears was part of a controversial conservatorship that had seen her father control most of her affairs, but once that was terminated in November 2021 the pair got engaged, marrying at her Los Angeles home in June 2022.

News that the couple had split emerged late on Wednesday in the US media, and hours later the Associated Press said that Asghari, 29, had officially begun divorce proceedings the same day. The reason for the breakup has not yet emerged.

Asghari was Spears's third husband; after a three-day marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 she married dancer Kevin Federline later that same year but they divorced three years later.
