A judge rules that Britney Spears cannot have her father Jamie Spears removed from her controversial conservatorship.

A judge has ruled that Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, can continue in his controversial role as her conservator for the time being.

In bombshell testimony in court last week, the 39-year-old popstar pleaded for her dad to be removed from a position which effectively has put him in control of her life - including her finances and medical treatment - for the last 13 years.

The judge in question, Brenda Penny, ruled on a previous request to oust Jamie from the arrangement, denying it "without prejudice".

The wider issue of whether the conservatorship should continue in light of Britney's evidence, he said, could not be considered until she files a petition on the matter.

Separately, Jamie has also filed a petition to the court asking them to investigate the claims of abuse made against him.
