The Office reunion planned for series launch on Peacock?

The cast of The Office could reunite for a Q&A panel to mark the show's launch on new streaming service Peacock in January.

The cast of The Office could reportedly reunite for a special show to mark the launch of the series on new streamer Peacock.

The hit comedy ended its broadcast run in 2013 and has enjoyed renewed popularity on streaming services in recent years, so much so that NBC has paid more than $500 million (£396 million) to secure the US rights from Netflix.

As a result the show will become available on Peacock in the US in January, and according to Deadline, the broadcaster is hoping for new material to accompany the launch.

New scripted episodes are not on the table, but the publication says that a cast reunion for a Q&A panel is a possibility.

Bill McGoldrick, NBCU's president of original content, said: "Because it does not launch until January, we have not talked specifically about The Office reboots for Peacock. We've talked about things we can do to support The Office once it gets to our service but a reboot has not come up specifically for Peacock."

Peacock launches in the US on Wednesday.
