Simon Cowell to develop shows for Netflix?

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to hold talks with Netflix about developing new formats for the platform.

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to hold talks with Netflix about the possibility of developing shows for the streaming service.

The media mogul has been productive during the coronavirus lockdown, assuming full control of Syco Entertainment and coming up with ideas for three new shows.

Cowell already oversees the successful Got Talent and The X Factor global franchises and according to The Sun, he is looking to team up with Netflix for his next big show.

"Simon thinks his formats could work for Netflix so a meeting with his team and their content acquisition team has been pencilled in," a source told the newspaper.

"He has a proven record of success with Got Talent and The X Factor but he wants to move with the times and see what Netflix think of some of his team's new TV ideas.

"They still believe there is life in talent shows and Simon is keen to see if they could make something work on Netflix. It's early days but it's all very exciting."

In the UK, The X Factor has been rested for 2020, while Britain's Got Talent is expected to return to ITV in September after taking an enforced break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
