Ricky Gervais open to 'After Life' season three

Ricky Gervais admits that he is open to the idea of making a third season of Netflix comedy After Life, depending on the reaction to the second.

Ricky Gervais has admitted that he is keen to produce a third season of dark comedy After Life.

The Netflix series follows Tony, a man who is struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife from cancer, and received much acclaim when the first season was released last year.

Gervais's previous creations The Office, Extras and Derek have deliberately not gone beyond two seasons, but the comedian has admitted that he may break his rule for After Life.

"For the first time ever, I've wanted to do a third season of something," he told The Sun. "It's my favourite ensemble I've ever done.

"It's the richest world I've created, it's not just a comedy about being in an office or an extra. So I've started thinking about it, but we have to see how season two goes down. If people say: 'This is the worst show' then I won't do one.

"It has to be a wanted encore from Netflix and the public for me to do it."

The second season of After Life drops on Netflix next Friday, April 24.
