Next series of Geordie Shore 'to take place in Colombia'

The next series of Geordie Shore will reportedly be filmed in Colombia rather than the UK due to coronavirus restrictions.

The new series of Geordie Shore will reportedly be filmed in Colombia rather than Newcastle in early 2021.

The long-running MTV reality show typically airs two series every year but was reduced to just one eight-episode series this year due to coronavirus.

The ongoing restrictions caused by the pandemic make a return to filming in Newcastle anytime soon unlikely, so according to The Sun, producers have taken the decision to relocate to Colombia for next year's 10th anniversary series.

"MTV has pretty much invited back all Geordie Shore's cast, past and present, for a huge special next year out in Colombia," a source told the newspaper.

"Hanging out on a paradise isle with cocktails a-plenty couldn't be a more dramatically different backdrop for the cast than their usual haunts.

"But it's just what the Geordie Shorers need – and fans want to see – after a year cooped up at home."

Colombia has suffered just over 40,000 deaths due to COVID-19 to date, while in the UK the number is closer to 70,000.
