Glee actress Naya Rivera's death by drowning last month took place in a matter of minutes, her death certificate has confirmed.
The 33-year-old died on July 8 after renting a boat on Lake Piru near Los Angeles with her four-year-old son Josey.
According to police interviews with the youngster, the pair had been swimming in the lake and as Rivera started to encounter difficulties, she is thought to have hoisted Josey onto the safety of the boat before disappearing beneath the water.
People magazine says that her death certificate lists the cause of death as "drowning" within "minutes" and also confirms that there were no drugs or alcohol present in her system at the time of the tragedy.
Rivera was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles on July 24.
