Dermot O'Leary comments on This Morning rumours

Dermot O'Leary admits that he is hopeful of joining Alison Hammond as part of a rumoured new presenter pairing for Friday's edition of This Morning.

Dermot O'Leary has admitted that he is 'hopeful' of getting a new presenting job on This Morning amid rumours of a show shakeup.

Earlier this month it was reported that Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are being demoted from their regular slot hosting Fridays in order to make way for a new pairing of O'Leary and long-serving show correspondent Alison Hammond.

ITV has yet to comment on the rumours, but speaking on Ireland AM this week, O'Leary suggested that talks along those lines are underway.

"I hope so," he said. "It is always tricky when there are colleagues and friends involved.

"There's nothing confirmed yet, but you know, we enjoyed doing the summer, so we'd like to do more.

"But at the same time, you don't want to tread on anyone's toes or treat anyone badly.

"So you're always sort of caught between a rock and a hard place on that sort of stuff."

Langsford and Holmes have presented the show together since 2006.
