Dawn French admits having breakfast curries during lockdown

Dawn French admits that she became accustomed to having curry for breakfast during the first coronavirus lockdown.

The Vicar of Dibley's Dawn French has admitted that she developed a habit of having curry for breakfast during the first coronavirus lockdown in the Spring.

Like much of the nation, the 63-year-old comedy legend fell into some unusual practices as the pandemic required the majority of the population to stay at home in order to curb the spread of the disease.

"In lockdown, I used to have curry for breakfast and it would go on too long," she told the Hay Winter Festival.

"I am in my office at 9.30am and I write until lunch.

"I try to put my phone off when I am writing and I try to keep going until 5pm. I have a Protestant work ethic that comes from my parents."

French wrote her latest novel, the Sunday Times best-seller Because of You during lockdown, and has also returned to Dibley with three short specials to be broadcast on BBC One this month.
