'Call of the Wild' set for Disney+ release

Disney releases Harrison Ford movie The Call of the Wild on Disney+ just weeks after its cinema release.

Disney has made the Harrison Ford movie The Call of the Wild available on Disney+ from today, just weeks after it was released in cinemas.

The adventure film is set in the 1890s and follows a dog named Buck who befriends an old man (Ford) in the Yukon before beginning a "life-altering" journey.

The movie was released in cinemas around the world at the end of February but has garnered terrible box office receipts to date, with the coronavirus pandemic forcing large swathes of the global population into isolation at home.

In an attempt to maximise revenue in the wake of the disease's outbreak, Disney has now made the film available on its recently-launched streaming service Disney+ - albeit for an additional fee.

The film can be purchased in the US for $14.99 starting today and although a UK release is expected to follow, at the time of writing it is not yet available on the service.

The studio has also made Will Ferrell comedy Downhill available for purchase starting today.
