Blankety Blank 'to be revived with Bradley Walsh'

The Chase host Bradley Walsh will reportedly host a pilot of classic gameshow Blankety Blank for the BBC.

Classic gameshow Blankety Blank is reportedly returning with Bradley Walsh as host.

The iconic series had its heyday in the 1980s, first with Terry Wogan presenting before Les Dawson took over for the majority of its run - then in the 1990s, Lily Savage hosted a brief revival on ITV.

The show was renowned for its panel of celebrity panellists and their comedic interactions with the host, with the likes of Kenny Everett, Cheryl Baker and Paul Daniels among the regular guests during the Dawson era.

According to The Mirror, the BBC is exploring the idea of bringing back the show and has commissioned a pilot episode with The Chase's Walsh overseeing proceedings.

"Bradley is honoured to be following in the footsteps of such great presenters and TV legends," a source told the newspaper.

"It's a lot of pressure reviving such a well-loved format but Bradley's up for it.

"If the pilot goes well - and everyone expects it will be a roaring success - a full series will follow."

The show last aired as a one-off Christmas special on ITV in 2016 with David Walliams hosting.
