Barack Obama pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Barack Obama praises Chadwick Boseman for making "use of his years" following the Black Panther star's death.

Former US President Barack Obama has praised Chadwick Boseman for making "use of his years" following the actor's death from cancer yesterday.

The 43-year-old Black Panther star passed away on Friday after a private battle with colon cancer for four years, prompting an outpouring of grief from around the world.

Sharing pictures of him together with Boseman on Instagram, Obama wrote: "Chadwick came to the White House to work with kids when he was playing Jackie Robinson. You could tell right away that he was blessed.

"To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years."

Both the Democratic candidate for President, Joe Biden, and Vice-President, Kamala Harris, have also paid tribute to the actor.

Despite having been active on Twitter for most of the day, President Donald Trump has yet to comment on Boseman's death.
