BAFTA Awards moved to April 2021

BAFTA confirms that it has followed the Oscars in delaying its 2021 ceremony by two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

BAFTA has announced that next year's film awards ceremony has been pushed back by two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The move comes after the Oscars confirmed that it had postponed the 2021 ceremony until the end of April.

The new date for the BAFTA Awards has been set as Sunday, April 11, meaning that it will be staged two weeks before the Oscars.

In a statement, organisers said: "This change from the previously announced date of February 14 acknowledges the impact of the global pandemic and accommodates an extended eligibility period. Further details on the ceremony will be announced later in the year."

BAFTA has also switched its annual TV awards ceremony from May to a virtual event on July 31 due to the pandemic.
