Filming concludes on Scream 5

Filming on the fifth movie in the Scream franchise wraps ahead of its January 2022 release date.

Filming of the fifth installment of the Scream franchise has concluded in North Carolina, it has been announced.

The highly-anticipated new movie will reunite original stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette for a fresh round of being terrorised by a mystery murderer, 11 years on from the events of Scream 4.

In September Campbell revealed that the cameras had started rolling on the flick and now the franchise's official Twitter account has revealed that principal photography is complete.

"Filming has officially wrapped on the new 'SCREAM' movie," the post said. "The film is expected to be released in theaters on January 14, 2022. #SCREAM5"

Last month Roger L Jackson, voice of Ghostface in the series, revealed some potential spoilers about the new film.
