This summer's Love Island will reportedly still go ahead in Mallorca as planned.

This year's summer series of Love Island will reportedly still go ahead in Mallorca despite the ongoing threat of coronavirus.

The UK and much of Europe are still in lockdown as a result of COVID-19, which has killed more than 186,000 people worldwide.

Producers are reportedly determined to get Love Island on the air come what may, however, and are supposedly considering locations in the UK as an alternative to the usual villa in Mallorca.

"Reports that bosses are looking at London as an alternative are rubbish," a source told The Sun. "Love Island is all about the sunshine and those skimpy outfits around the swimming pool as well as the sexual chemistry between the girls and boys.

"It has that holiday vibe which they just wouldn't be able to ever replicate on a dreary Wednesday in September in London.

"The plan is still for the show to be filmed at its famous villa in Majorca. By delaying the start until the end of August or beginning of September they're pretty confident it will be able to go ahead there.

"It's still a way off and they are taking one week at a time but they are speaking to their fixers in Spain and the advice was to delay it until then."

Love Island is ITV2's most popular show and last summer averaged more than 5.6 million viewers across its six-week run.
