Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard concerned for 25th anniversary

Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard admits that coronavirus has "put a little cat among the pigeons" for the soap's upcoming 25th anniversary.

Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard has admitted that there are some concerns the soap's upcoming 25th anniversary may be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming on all UK soaps is currently halted due to the deadly disease, meaning that most - if not all - will drop off the air at some point in the summer.

Hollyoaks celebrates 25 years on the air in October and Pickard, who has played Tony Hutchinson since the start, is worried that they may not be able to mark the occasion fully if they are unable to start filming again soon.

"It must be so busy and really hard for the team," he told Digital Spy. "The producers have planning meetings, but then this comes along and all of the work they've done has been wiped out.

"Also, with our 25th anniversary coming up, it must have put a little cat among the pigeons there as well. Their heads must be fried up there – I take my hat off to all of them."

ITV soap Coronation Street is also celebrating an anniversary this year - its 60th - but does not reach the historic milestone until mid-December.
