Emmerdale legend Chris Chittell reportedly signs a new deal keeping him on the soap for at least another year.

Emmerdale legend Chris Chittell has reportedly penned a new deal keeping him in the Dales as Eric Pollard for at least another year.

The 74-year-old made his debut as Pollard in 1986 and is the longest-serving cast member in the soap's 50-year history, appearing in more than 3,100 episodes to date.

Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, is recently said to have agreed a new deal with producers and according to The Sun, Chittell has now followed suit.

A source told the newspaper: "Everyone on Emmerdale is so happy he's signed on for another year - fans will be glad he'll be sticking around."

Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
