Gray's (Toby-Alexander Smith) reign of terror finally came to an end on tonight's EastEnders as he was apprehended by police.
After discovering that Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) had phoned the police while he confessed to the murder of Chantelle, he branded her a "treacherous little bitch" before proceeding to begin strangling her.
As the police rolled up outside, Gray fled back to the home of his former mother-in-law Karen (Lorraine Stanley), who was still in disbelief from Mitch's (Roger Griffiths) revelations that Gray had killed their daughter.
Initially Gray denied everything to Karen but eventually snapped and confessed to Chantelle's murder, telling her: "Yes, I did. There, are you happy now? Do you want the details, would that help?"
As Karen looked on aghast, he continued: "She was acting up, so I gave her a push. Just a tiny little push and she fell on the knife. Now, I was going to call the ambulance but I didn't think that would look too good on me. So I crept out, cooked up an alibi and left her there to die."
"No, it was an accident," protested Karen. "You didn't mean to hurt her, you got scared."
"Not that time," he replied. "But sometimes she just wouldn't shut up. And I was forced to raise my hand."
Gray attempted to summon his kids, Mack and Mia, to leave but Karen grabbed a baseball bat and ushered the kids back upstairs.
Goading her, Gray continued: "I killed your daughter Karen. I stood over her and watched her die. Look at these eyes, they're the last thing she saw before she died."
Instead of attacking Gray, Karen chose to smash the window instead to alert police - forcing Gray to flee again.
This time he entered the Vic, where Shirley (Linda Henry) was waiting - and she wasted no time in beating him up and glassing him to the ground. Soon she was joined by Mick (Danny Dyer), who also gave Gray a kicking, but after a further struggle, Gray managed to escape as a bloodied Shirley lay on the floor.
Gray's final confrontation saw him go up against Whitney (Shona McGarty), who pursued him up onto the railway bridge and backed him into a corner.
"You're going to prison," she said, as he surveyed the blue lights and swarms of police in the square below. "You're going to pay for Chantelle, for Tina, and everyone's going to know what you're really like. You're an abuser, a killer... a weak, pathetic man."
"I can't go to prison, I can't," he told her, before attempting to jump over the bridge.
Whitney grabbed hold of Gray, refusing to let him fall to his death - prompting him to confess to one more murder. Urging her to let him go, he said: "Consider it payback... for Kush. That's right, I killed him too. I pushed him under that train. We had a nice chat, he turned his back. I did it for you."
As Whitney reeled in shock from the revelation her grip on Gray started to loosen - but at the last moment, Mitch arrived and helped pull Gray back over the barriers, ensuring that justice would be done for his daughter.
The police then took over and with the residents of Walford watching on, Gray was led away in handcuffs to the police car, stopping at the last moment to turn to Karen and point at his eyes.
