Limited-time Doctor Who zone launches in BBC's Nightfall

Nightfall launches a Doctor Who-themed zone, allowing users to play the game as The Doctor.

The BBC's free online game Nightfall has launched a limited-time zone themed around Doctor Who.

In the game, which is aimed at children, users control a version of themselves that exists in dreams - a so-called "Nightfaller" - and team up with others to help defend the Dream from "Nightmares".

REM Zone 2 has been repurposed with a Doctor Who theme until September 29, allowing users to customise their Nightfaller as Jodie Whittaker's incarnation of The Doctor or as a Cyberman in order to battle the most famous Who foe - the Daleks.

Rachel Bardill, executive editor of BBC Children's, said: "Nightfall puts collaboration before competition, and this new Doctor Who zone is an exciting addition, transporting children inside the world of the Doctor to unite and take on the Daleks together.

"It's especially important now for kids to connect when they're apart from friends and classmates, and Nightfall is bringing them together in an online dream world to help defeat Nightmares."

Nightfall is available on Android, iOS and Amazon devices.
