ITV insists Dancing On Ice on track despite second lockdown

ITV confirms that preparations for the new series of Dancing On Ice have not been thrown off track by England's new coronavirus lockdown.

ITV has confirmed that preparations for the next series of Dancing On Ice are continuing throughout England's second lockdown.

The new restrictions came into effect overnight and have led to entertainment spaces, including ice rinks, being forced to close for at least four weeks.

According to a report in The Sun, some of the show's stars have been concerned that the lockdown will make it impossible to train, but ITV has now revealed that it has special dispensation to continue using ice rinks.

"ITV takes the safety and welfare of everyone involved with its programmes extremely seriously and follows all government guidelines regarding COVID-19," a spokesperson told the Radio Times.

"The government has confirmed that TV production can carry on throughout lockdown, to that end we will be hiring the local ice rinks on a private and exclusive hire basis."

Celebrities taking part in the next series, which begins in January, include Joe-Warren Plant, Denise van Outen, Colin Jackson and Rebekah Vardy.
