Brendan Cole joins the lineup for the new series of Dancing On Ice almost five years after his time on Strictly Come Dancing ended.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has joined the lineup for the new series of Dancing On Ice.

The 45-year-old dancer appeared on the first 15 series of Strictly but was axed by the BBC after the 2017 edition.

"I'm so, so excited. It's been a while coming now," Cole told today's Loose Women. "I've known I'd be doing the show for quite some time and I want to get started, I'm so excited to be on the show."

He added: "To be back on a big stage - and this is a very big, very cold stage - I cannot tell you how excited I am.

"It means a lot to us in the entertainment industry to have these opportunities and I'm going to take it with both skates!"

Other celebrities announced for the new series - due to begin on ITV in January - include Sally Dynevor, Rachel Stevens and Ben Foden.
