Millie Gibson will leave her role as Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street after three years, it emerges.

Millie Gibson is to leave her role as Kelly Neelan on Coronation Street later this year, it has emerged.

The 18-year-old - a fan-favourite - made her debut in July 2019 as the daughter of loan shark Rick, who was killed by Gary (Mikey North) - now her de-facto guardian.

In recent weeks Kelly has started to realise that Gary may have a darker side to his character and The Sun speculates that this development could lead to her departure from the cobbles.

A source told the newspaper: "Millie's a huge talent. She has loved her time on the soap but there's a lot of excitement about what she's going to do next.

"Everyone has been sworn to secrecy over her exit storyline. It's going to be explosive.

"Millie's not even telling people if the door has been left open for her."

Kelly's exit is expected to air at some point this autumn.
