Ellie Leach reportedly signs a new one-year deal to stay on as Faye Windass on Coronation Street.

Ellie Leach has reportedly penned a new deal keeping her character Faye Windass on Coronation Street for at least 12 months more.

Faye - daughter of Tim (Joe Duttine) - first appeared on the cobbles in January 2011 and has since been involved in storylines including a teenage pregnancy, sexual harassment from her boss and a stint in prison.

Since she was released from jail last year, Faye has got back together with boyfriend Craig (Colson Smith) and has also found herself covering up the accidental death of an elderly man.

"Ellie is a huge talent and bosses are delighted she's signed a new contract," a source told The Sun.

"She's really proved herself time and time again, most recently after the accident which caused Ted's death. There's lots more to come from her and some exciting storylines ahead."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
