Sky News rolls out a new on-air look as the channel gears up for competition from new station GB News.

Sky News has unveiled a refresh of its on-air look today ahead of the launch of new rival service GB News on June 13.

Central to the new design is an increase in the size of the fonts used for on-screen text, including the breaking news ticker, and a switch from all-caps text in order to make the channel more accessible on mobile and hand-held devices.

The channel has also tweaked its signature theme tune and is pushing its strapline as "The home of independent news".

The move also comes ahead of Kay Burley's impending return to work after she was suspended for six months for breaking coronavirus rules last December.
