Piers Morgan has been unveiled as a star signing for a brand new channel from News UK owner Rupert Murdoch.
Called talkTV, the new station is expected to launch in early 2022 and will be made available on linear TV in the UK as well as online.
The channel will make use of News UK brands including The Sun, The Times and talkRADIO with debate and opinion programmes, as well as documentaries, making it a direct rival to the recently-launched GB News.
Morgan, who has been out of a regular TV job since quitting Good Morning Britain in March, will host a flagship show on talkTV on weekday evenings. The programme will also air down under on Sky News Australia and in the US through the Fox Nation service.
As part of the deal, Morgan will also write weekly columns for The Sun and The New York Post, while News UK's HarperCollins will publish a follow-up to his best-selling book Wake Up.
"I'm thrilled to be returning to News Corp. which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago," said Morgan, who will also produce a number of true crime documentaries for talkTV.
"Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together.
"I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.
"I'm going home and we're going to have some fun."
Murdoch added: "Piers is the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire. Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist and says what people are thinking and feeling."
More details on talkTV, including other presenters signed up for the channel, will be announced over the next few months.
