GB News confirms Freesat channel number
GB News confirms its EPG placing on Freesat and offers viewers an update on the construction of its studio complex.

GB News has confirmed that it will be available on channel 216 on Freesat when it launches in the coming weeks.

The new news channel, which will feature presenters such as Andrew Neil, Simon McCoy, Alastair Stewart and Colin Brazier, has secured carriage on every major platform - including Sky, Virgin Media, Freeview, Youview and Freesat.

In an update today, the broadcaster confirmed that it will be available in HD format on Freesat channel 216, just below Turkish broadcaster TRT World in the news section of the EPG.

Earlier this week GB News launched its placeholder card on Freeview and Youview channel 236, suggesting that a launch is a matter of weeks away.

An EPG slot on the UK's biggest pay-TV service, Sky, has yet to be confirmed; the next free slot is at the bottom of the news section on channel 524, although the broadcaster does have the option of purchasing a more lucrative position higher up the EPG if they can convince a rival to sell.

Possible options include the 507 slot occupied by Japanese news channel NHK World, India's NDTV 24x7 on 510 - or more ambitiously, the 502 position occupied by the little-watched but strongly financially-backed Bloomberg TV.
