GB News channel's Freeview number confirmed

GB News channel's Freeview number confirmed
The new GB News channel is allocated a slot on Freeview ahead of its launch later this year.

The new GB News channel will launch on Freeview channel 236 later this year, it has been confirmed.

The major new station - run by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil - will aim to offer an alternative to rolling news channels such as Sky News and BBC News with a programming lineup of opinion-led and debate shows.

GB News has already secured transmission on all of the major platforms in the UK and now its Freeview slot has been confirmed as channel 236, placing it after Al Jazeera in the lineup and effectively confirming that it will be available in SD quality only through DTT.

A EPG number on Sky has yet to be confirmed; the next available slot in the news section is channel 524 - below niche news channels such as TVC News, Arise News and Arirang TV - although GB News does have the option of buying a channel slot higher up the EPG from another broadcaster.

A launch date has yet to be confirmed for GB News although it is expected to be up and running within the next few months.
