Big Brother USA renewed for 23rd season

CBS confirms that the US version of Big Brother will return for a 23rd season, with Julie Chen back as host, next summer.

CBS has confirmed that Big Brother has been renewed for a 23rd season to air next summer.

The news means that the seminal reality show will have been part of the network's schedules for 22 consecutive years and comes hours before the finale of season 22, an all-stars season put together during the coronavirus crisis.

Mitch Graham, svp of alternative programming at CBS, said: "At Big Brother, we always say 'expect the unexpected', but 2020 gave us our biggest challenge to date!

"We could not be prouder of the entire team who delivered a fantastic season under such extreme circumstances.

"It feels fitting for this unprecedented season to conclude with an announcement of the show's return next summer."

Julie Chen, who has hosted the show since its first ever episode in 2000, will be back to host the new run in 2021.
