Phil Taylor comes through Mensur Suljovic test at World Matchplay

Phil Taylor is through to the World Matchplay quarter-finals with an 11-5 win over Mensur Suljovic.

Phil Taylor has overcome the challenge of Mensur Suljovic to reach the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay.

Suljovic was expected to pose a threat to the 15-time winner but he paid the price for a slow start as Taylor came through by an 11-5 scoreline.

Taylor will now face Mervyn King after the two-time Lakeside runner-up backed up Sunday's win over James Wade with an 11-8 triumph over Brendan Dolan.

Gary Anderson remained on course to reach his first final at the Winter Gardens with an 11-5 win over Terry Jenkins to set up a clash with Steve Beaton.

The 1996 Lakeside champion rolled back the years for the second time in 48 hours as he averaged 99.16 to defeat Michael Smith by an 11-7 scoreline.
