Mark Cavendish wins Tour de France stage seven

Etixx-Quickstep rider Mark Cavendish wins his first Tour de France stage for two years with victory on stage seven in Fougeres.

Britain's Mark Cavendish has ended a two-year drought at the Tour de France with victory on stage seven of this year's race.

The Etixx-Quickstep rider sprinted from 50m out on an uphill finish in Fougeres to beat green jersey holder Andre Greipel to the finish line, picking up the 26th stage win of his career at Le Tour.

The 30-year-old, who missed most of last year's race with a shoulder injury, sits third in the points classification, 48 points behind Greipel.

Team Sky's Chris Froome regained the general classification lead after Cavendish's teammate Tony Martin was forced to pull out of the remainder of the Tour with a broken collarbone.
