Result: Jon-Allan Butterworth wins the silver medal in the C5 men's pursuit

Jon-Allan Butterworth wins silver in the C5 men's individual pursuit.

Great Britain's Jon-Allan Butterworth just missed out on a gold medal in the men's C5 individual pursuit.

Butterworth was beaten in the gold medal race by Australia's Michael Gallagher.

The Briton had started well and at one stage was a second ahead of his rival.

The experience of Gallagher told though, and the Australian closed the gap, eventually winning by several seconds.

In the bronze medal race, Xinyang Liu of China beat Ukraine's Yegor Dementyev comfortably.

Butterworth still has three more chances to win medals. He will compete in the team sprint, as well as the pursuit and time trial on the road.
